In collaboration with the Golf Club in Sousse, United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Tunis organized an international golf competition under the theme "Golf Players Supporting the UN", from 17-24 October.  The Centre produced a one-hour radio programme on Radio Sfax, during which the Officer-in-Charge discussed UN history, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), UN reform and the UN’s work in Tunisia.  In addition, the UN Country Team organized a UN Day reception for the diplomatic corps, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and media where guests viewed an exhibit displaying examples of cooperation between the UN and Tunisia from 1956 to the present.

The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Lome participated in several events to commemorate United Nations Day 2007.  The events included an official ceremony presided over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, an opening ceremony for an international film festival on human rights and a debate on the Millennium Development Goals broadcast on Togolese TV.  

The United Nations Day ceremony was organized by the United Nations Information Service (UNIS) Bangkok, the UN Country Team and the UN Association in Thailand.  Exhibits by the 20 UN entities operating in the country were shown in the largest shopping mall in Bangkok. Speaking in front of approximately 450 UN staff members, Thai government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, students and representatives of civil society, Prime Minister General Surayud Chulanont reaffirmed Thailand’s continuing support “for all the good work that the United Nations and its specialized bodies, indeed all of you, are doing for the cause of multilateralism, for the benefit of our region and the world at large."

To celebrate UN Day, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Dar es Salaam organized several events.  They included outreach activities in schools in Dar es Salaam and other cities, a flag-raising ceremony, opening of an exhibition about the UN in Tanzania, and a  voluntary  HIV counseling and testing session.
