In a joint initiative with the Armenian National Library, the UN Department of Public Information (DPI) staff in Yerevan visited municipal and regional libraries as well as local youth centers in the southern regions of Syunik and Vayots Dzor. The visits were given a theme, "Human Rights and the Right to Information Availability", which ties into the on-going celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 2008.

During the three day trip on 14-16 August, the UN DPI staff, together with the director, deputy director and the assistant staff of the national library, held meetings with local authorities, librarians, non-governmental (NGO) representatives and youth, and disseminated UN publications, materials, posters and handouts. The national library's Bibliobus, a mobile library and exhibition vehicle, was used to bring information materials about the UN to people in the areas they visited.  In addition, a UN Information Corner was established in the Yeghegnadzor youth center.  The corner provides youth with access to information about the UN and the work the UN does.
