On 4 March 2009, an award ceremony was held for winners of a peace essay competition held in 2008 and open to all Grade 11 students in Lesotho. The competition was organized by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Maseru in collaboration with the Bahai Community, Transformation Resource Centre and Ministry of Justice, Human Rights and the Correctional Service.  The topic was "Dignity and Justice For All of Us" within the framework of the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, commemorated in 2008. Prizes were awarded by the Minister of Justice and the UN Resident Coordinator.

Selcuk University students visits UNIC Ankara

During November and December 2008, United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Ankara briefed students on UN work, commemorated the 60th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and held a conference on the rights of persons with disabilities.

On 5 November, UNIC Ankara, organized a conference at Bilkent International School. The United Nations National Information Officer (NIO) and the UNDP Deputy Resident Representative addressed the students on the Millennium Development Goals and general UN activities.

Students from Selcuk University, Konya, visited UNIC Ankara on 21 November. UNIC staff briefed the group, composed of members of Selcuk University International Relations Club, on UN activities and priorities.

On 4 December, UNIC Ankara organized a conference jointly with the Turkish Administration for Disabled Persons. A representative of UNICEF Turkey addressed the conference on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Turkey ratified the convention on 3 December, International Day of Disabled Persons.

UNIC Ankara commemorated the 60th anniversary of UDHR on 19 December by jointly organizing a conference with Gazi University and the Soroptimist Association. UNIC NIO and university professors moderated a panel discussion focusing on “Development of Human Rights in Turkey” and “Turkey and the European Court of Human Rights”.

تمت المصادقة عن الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان من طرف الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة بباريس يوم 10 دجنبر 1948، حيث حظي هذا اليوم بالمتابعة من طرف معظم دول العالم.

وتحت شعار"الكرامة والعدل للجميع"، تخلد دول العالم يوم 10 دجنبر من هذه السنة الذكرى الستين للإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان. وقد تم تبني هذا الشعار انسجاما مع روح الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان والتزاما بمبادئ الكرامة والعدل على الصعيد العالمي.

إن احترام مقتضيات الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان وقيمه الأساسية المتجلية في الكرامة الإنسانية وعدم التمييز بين الأشخاص والمساواة والإنصاف هي مسؤولية جماعية غير مرتبطة بزمان أو مكان معينين. فالإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان يعتبر وثيقة رسمية ودائمة تهدف إلى حماية حقوق الإنسان ووسيلة فعالة للتعريف بقواعدها لدى الأشخاص لتمكينهم من معرفة حقوقهم والدفاع عنها.

والمغرب، العضو النشيط في منظمة الأمم المتحدة ، تعهد بالإلتزام بما تقتضيه مواثيقها من مبادئ و حقوق وواجبات و يؤكد تشبته بحقوق الإنسان كما هي متعارف عليها عالميا. كما يؤكد عزمه على مواصلة العمل للمحافظة على آحترام ميثاق حقوق الإنسان.

La Déclaration Universelle des Droits de l'Homme a été adoptée par l’Assemblée Générale des Nations Unies le 10 décembre 1948 à Paris.

« Dignité et justice pour tous »  est le thème choisi pour célébrer cette année le 60ème Anniversaire de la Déclaration Universelle des Droits de l’Homme. Ce thème est choisi pour renforcer la vision de la Déclaration Universelle des Droits de l’Homme (DUDH) en tant qu’engagement en faveur de la dignité et de la justice universelle.

La DUDH et ses valeurs fondamentales – dignité humaine inhérente, non-discrimination, égalité, équité et universalité – s’appliquent à tous les êtres humains, en tout temps et en tout lieu. La Déclaration universelle, document vivace et vivant, nous concerne tous.

Un élément essentiel de la protection des droits de l’homme consiste à faire largement connaître et comprendre au public quels sont ses droits et comment ils peuvent être défendus.

Le Maroc, membre actif de l’ONU, s’est aligné sur les principes des droits et d’obligations de cette alliance et s’est engagé aussi dans le respect de la charte des droits de l’homme telle qu’elle est reconnue à l’échelon international. Le Maroc ne cesse d’affirmer sa volonté de poursuivre sa politique dans le sens du respect de la charte des droits de l’homme.

En confirmant son attachement aux principes de l’Organisation des Nations Unies, le Maroc ne cesse de déployer ses efforts sous la Présidence éclairée de Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI que Dieu l’assiste, pour le respect des droits de l’Homme.
