The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Yaounde organised an in support of human rights and peace in Africa.
The event was held on 8 December on the esplanade of the Yaounde Conference Centre. It was co-organised with a group known as Wailing Women Worldwide, an inter-denominational prayer group. Group members from Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congo, and Central African Republic attended the event.

On 7 December, 2007 the Georgia UN House hosted a UN Media Club meeting on the Global Human Development Report, "Fighting climate change: Human solidarity in a divided world", which provides a stark account of the threat posed by global warming.
UNDP’s Program Analyst Mariam Shotadze briefed the journalists on the key findings of the Global Human Development Report. UNDP’s Economic Team leader Sophie Kemkhadze provided information on the Human Development Index (HDI).
In addition, a documentary film on renewable energy project that is being implemented by the UNDP in the Racha region was aired.
The event was organized by the UNDPI/UNO together with the UNDP. Along with the Club members, the meeting was attended by the printed and broadcast media representatives. The event provided an excellent opportunity for UN and media representatives to gather in an informal setting.
Established in May 2006, the UN Media Club - a voluntary, informal club of journalists - is an interactive information exchange network to promote UN values.

On 28 November, United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Tripoli organized a press conference to launch the Human Development Report 2007-2008. The UN Resident Coordinator briefed the journalists about the report. The program was broadcast on national TV three times during peak hours. A number of newspapers reported the event.

The UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Bujumbura organized a media workshop on "The role of the media in preventing genocide: lessons from Rwanda" on 8 November. 80 journalists attended the workshop.
The programme included two presentations entitled "Lessons from Rwanda" and "The role of the media in preventing genocide". The UNIC National Information Officer moderated the debates and deleivered and introductory speech and concluding remarks.
