On 12 June 2009, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Buenos Aires organized together with the Division of Peacekeeping Operations of Argentina’s Ministry of Defense a two hour event honouring the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers at CAECOPAZ (Argentinean Joint  Training Center for Peacekeeping Operations).

Keynote speakers included the Director of UNIC Buenos Aires, CAECOPAZ Director and the Director of Peacekeeping Operations at the Ministry of Defense.

The UNIC Rio de Janeiro sponsored documentary “Ponto Forte” (“Strong Point”), which focuses on the work of MINUSTAH and the civil-military cooperation in the Mission and was directed by Mariana Reade, was shown along with a 10 minute video on the 50th anniversary of Argentina’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations.

On 3 March 2009 approximately 15 journalists attended a special briefing on the Secretary-General’s campaign “UNiTED to End Violence Against Women”, organized by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Buenos Aires. The keynote speaker, United Nations Population Fund 's (UNFPA) Liason Officer in Argentina informed the audience about the goals of the worldwide campaign and provided data on violence against women in Argentina. Senator María Perceval briefed the audience on the comprehensive bill on violence against women currently being debated at the Senate and a representative  of the non-governmental organization (NGO) Argentina’s Journalists Network for Non Sexist Communication (PAR) discussed gender and journalism.

In order to mark International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Buenos Aires, with the support of the University of Buenos Aires Law School, organized an event in coordination with the Palestinian Delegation in Argentina. The event was held in the auditorium of the University of Buenos Aires Law School on 26 November 2008 and was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, academics, students, government officials, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and representatives of the Palestinian community in Argentina. Speakers discussed the history of the Day, read the Secretary-General's message for the Day and unveiled a photo exhibit on the theme of "The Question of Palestine and the United Nations."

On 30 May the UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Buenos Aires organized a ceremony to mark International Day of UN Peacekeepers and the 60th anniversary of UN peacekeeping.

The UNIC Director inaugurated the event and briefed participants on the purpose of the observance. He also paid tribute to peacekeepers who died in the line of duty. The documentary “In the Cause of Peace” was screened. Argentina's Defense Minister spoke about “Argentina and the UN Peace Missions” and noted the country celebrated 50 years as a troop contributor to UN peacekeeping operations. The UNIC prepared a package of information materials for distribution among the participants and an exhibit on peacekeeping operations.
