A flag-raising ceremony was organized by the Information Working Group in consultation with the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team. The Additional Secretary of Sri Lanka's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. T.B. Maduwegedera, raised the UN flag.
UNIC Colombo disributed the Secretary-General's UN Day message in English, Sinhala and Tamil.
