On 22 March 2009, a day-long seminar was held in Dhaka in observance of World Water Day. The seminar was organized by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Dhaka together with several other UN agencies and non-governmental organizations. Approximately 300 people attended the seminar, including representatives from the government, the diplomatic community and civil society. The United Nations Secretary-General's message for the Day was read to participants and the keynote speaker was the State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives.

On 8 March 2009, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Dhaka together with Notre Dame College organized a debate to commemorate International Women's Day. The Officer-in-Charge of UNIC Dhaka was the guest speaker and addressed approximately 150 students prior to the debate. In addition, the Officer-in-Charge read the Secretary-General's message for the Day to the participants. The theme of the debate was "Men make better volunteers than women."

The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Dhaka together with Govt B. M. College organized a programme on 2 December 2008 for university students and professors to discuss the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The programme was held in the college's auditorium and was attended by eighty students and professors. UNIC Dhaka's Officer-in-Charge was the keynote speaker and the College Principal presided over the session.

Three videos were screened and the programme ended with a question and answer session.

On 23 October, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Dhaka together with staff of Scholastica School organized an information session and quiz competition to celebrate United Nations Day. One hundred students were briefed by UNIC's Officer-in-Charge, school administrators and a representative of the UN Youth and Student Association.  The students watched three short films about the UN, including the Secretary-General's video message for UN Day. The briefing closed with a quiz competition.
