On 21 September, the UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Bujumbura, in association with the UN Communications Group, the Ministry of National Solidarity, Human Rights and Gender, the Ministry of Sports and Youth and representatives of civil society, organized the commemoration of International Day of Peace under the local theme, "Let's redouble our efforts to consolidate peace."
The event incuded a peace ride with one hundred cyclists, among them the Head of State and the Executive Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Burundi.
The official ceremony took place at Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium and the Head of State opened an exhibit of children’s drawings.
