11 June 2008
On 11 June 2008, the Officer-in-Charge of the UN Information Service (UNIS) in Vienna gave two presentations at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen entitled "Vienna as a United Nations Headquarters in the European Union" and "UDHR 60 - the United Nations and Human Rights". The talk was organized and coordinated by the Model United Nations Göttingen (GÖMUN).

The presentations outlined the history of the United Nations in Austria, the main organizations that are resident there and the significance of their presence. UNIS Vienna's Officer-in-Charge highlighted the cooperation between the UN and the European Union. He also spoke briefly about the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The GÖMUN is organized by a very active group of mainly political science students and they receive academic credits for participating in the Model UN programme.
