UNIC Moscow participates in annual Moscow International Book Fair

For the fourth year in a row, United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Moscow along with several UN agencies participated in the Moscow International Book Fair.  The book fair, which took place from 3 - 8 September at the Russian State Exhibition Center, hosted delegations from 80 countries. More that 200,000 publications in dozens of
languages were displayed in three huge pavilions.

The UNIC librarian, Ms. Julia Vlassova, coordinated the creation of the UN booth and spent 6 days at the fair.  In addition to UNIC Moscow, the following agencies provided materials displayed at the booth: United Nations Development Program (UNDP), International Labour Organization (ILO), World Health Organization (WHO), UNAIDS, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), United Nations Childrens' Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR).

More than 8,000 visitors came to the UN booth and approximately 20,000 copies of UN publications, booklets and posters were handed out.  The publications touched on a variety of topics including the Millennium Development Goals, the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and persons with disabilities.
