Woman selling her products at market organized to mark International Women's Day
This year's
International Women's Day in Namibia was observed with the theme of "sharing responsibilities." The
United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Windhoek, in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, assisted women from all walks of life, especially those from rural areas, in showcasing their products at an open market on 7 March 2009. This initiative emphasized women's roles as primary producers of food, the pillars of their families and champions of sustainable development.
