International Anti-Corruption Day marked by the UN Country Team in Bahrain

On the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day, the UN Country Team in Bahrain and NGO “Transparency Society”, held a seminar on 8 December in the Diplomat Hotel in Manama to raise awareness about corruption and its corrosive impact on development as well as on the role of the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in combating and preventing corruption.
 
During the seminar, operated by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Manama Director Nejib Friji, UN Resident Coordinator made a statement referring to the Secretary-General's message. Bahrain’s Senior Advocate General, Public Prosecution Office, the President of Bahrain Transparency Society, the Second Vice-Chairman, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Head of The National Competitiveness Council as well as a Foreign Ministry official made statements and participated in the deliberations. A Power Point presentation on “Implementation Mechanisms of the UNCAC” was made by a UNDP expert.
