During a panel discussion
The United Nations Infor-mation Centre (UNIC) Brazzaville in partnership with a local NGO organized a discussion session to mark the International Day for the Elimination of the Racial Discrimination, on 19 March 2010.
Sponsored by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), this activity was focused on various forms of discrimination based on pigmentation and race.
Among panellists were an albino, a female foreigner living in Brazzaville, a sociologist, a human rights activist.
Playing the role of the moderator, the UNIC National Information Officer welcomed participants and delivered the introductory words The UNIC Library Assistant delivered the UN Secretary-General’s message.
A lively debate marked the event in which a pop singer performed highlighting the celebration’s theme “embrace diversity end discrimination”. The audience was composed of 100 participants representing civil society, media, university and the UN as well.
