Attendees gather at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC for the 2010 International Women’s Day Luncheon
On 8 March 2010, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Washington, in association with the United Nations Foundation and the Women’s Foreign Policy Group, hosted a luncheon at Washington’s historic Mayflo-wer Hotel in celebration of the International Women’s Day.
The luncheon was met with great anticipation, with attendance by 250 representatives of the Washington policy community.
The U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis provided the keynote remarks, addressing the continuing need for equal opportunity in global labor markets.
She also affirmed the U.S. government’s efforts to combat human trafficking and to a reengagement with the UN Population Fund.
