UNIC Information Officer Ahmet Parla at the opening of the conference
On 3 December, EuroAsia Model United Nations conference started with the participation of the UN Information Centre (UNIC) Ankara.
In his opening speech, UNIC Ankara Information Officer emphasized the importance the United Nations attaches to the issues related to the youth. Information Officer reminded the Model United Nations delegates that International Year of Youth will continue until August 10, 2011 and urged them to integrate activities in line with the theme of the international year into their programmes.
EuroAsia Model UN was organized to train delegates that will attend the Model UN to be organized in March 2011, in Çeşme, İzmir.
Around 400 delegates from several universities and high schools grouped in special committees to discuss global issues and to learn more in detail how the UN operates.
The EuroAsia Model UN Conference was organized at TOBB University in Ankara.
