04 May 2011

The annual We Care Filmfest Awards for films highlighting disability issues were given away at a function organized by the NGO Brotherhood and other partners in New Delhi on 4 May 2011.

The UN Information Centre (UNIC) New Delhi is one of the founder partners of the festival which is now in its eighth year. Addressing the gathering, UNIC Director Kiran-Mehra Kerpelman said the festival had grown to become a major platform for raising awareness of disability issues. She emphasized the need to support it so that the unique, uplifting films could be shown to many more audiences in India and beyond. “We see the problem”, Ms. Mehra-Kerpelman observed. “We now need to ensure we have the vision to resolve it.”
