UNIC Canberra and the University of Canberra are working together to promote Rio + 20 in the Canberra region, by enlisting the help of the advertising and marketing students
on campus.
The project has been set as part of their degree coursework and will culminate in the top projects being presented to a panel of high level science communicators at Questacon Science museum in May.
In the initial phase of the project, the UNIC Director, Chris Woodthorpe, gave a presentation on the Rio +20 conference to the 150 students at the University. This was followed by a lively question and answer session.
At the presentation, Mr Woodthorpe said that the project was a very effective way for the students to learn about one of the United Nations' major campaigns while undertaking their studies.
He added that it was through their work that the Canberra community would become aware of the Rio+20 conference, and hopefully engage in the “Future We Want” campaign.
