Arab States


United Nations Information Centres covering Arab States are based in Algiers, Beirut, Cairo, Khartoum, Manama, Rabat, Sana'a, Tripoli and Tunis.


UNIC Cairo has the added responsibility of providing communications support and advice to smaller UNICs in the Arab States region. This role includes facilitating the work of the other Information Centres in the region by assisting them in strategic thinking and communications planning, sharing plans, ideas and best practices. UNIC Cairo also facilitates the exchange of information and ideas among the Information Centres in the region through regular dialogue and consultation and by assisting them with troubleshooting and problem-solving.


UNIC Cairo, together with United Nations system partners, aims to improve the UN's image in the Arab world, increase the support of Arab countries for UN programmes and projects and raise awareness of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the region.
